Incident Management Team transfers command of Venado Fire (Venado Fire Wildfire)

General Information: On Sunday at 6:00 a.m., Steve Millert’s Type 2 Incident Management Team 4 will transition management of the Venado Fire to a local Type 3 organization, led by Incident Commander Ray Carrol. The number of personnel assigned to the fire will continue to decrease due to successful firefighting efforts. Approximately 180 personnel and equipment will remain assigned to the incident. Fire Operations: Scattered showers occurred across the fire’s footprint yesterday which helped to minimize growth of the fire. Sufficient rains allowed firefighters to enhance pre-existing fuel treatments in the Joaquin unit to support suppression efforts. Last night, the wet conditions allowed crews to ignite dead and downed fuels along an established dozer line to further limit fire intensity and help strengthen containment lines.
