JEMEZ SPRINGS — The Village of Jemez Springs announced that they plan to postpone the annual “Cabin Fever Festival” originally scheduled for this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 24 citing weather forecasts of windy and near-freezing conditions. The Village plans to reschedule the event towards the end of March, and may announce a new date by next week.
“Most weather reports are forecasting highs in the low 30s and gusty winds on the day of the event, so to be prudent and fair to our visitors and vendors, we are postponing the event,” Mayor Bob Wilson said. “We apologize to those who had planned to attend ‘Cabin Fever Festival’ but we hope they will attend in March once it has been rescheduled.”
Jemez Springs received several inches of much needed snow Wednesday, Feb. 21 and is expecting more tomorrow, according to weather forecasts. Village businesses are still open and accessible during the weekend, as are attractions in Jemez Springs.
The Cabin Fever Festival is an annual event that includes chainsaw carving demonstrations by Sandia Bear Company, a dog costume contest, pie competition, live music, arts/crafts and much more.
