TRES LAGUNAS FIRE UPDATE Saturday, June 1, 2013, 9:30 a.m. Fire Information: 505-757-6121 Media Contact: 505-503-5811 Acres: 5,300 Start Date: May 30, 2013 Cause: downed power line Location: 10 miles North of Pecos, NM Containment: 0% Fuels: Timber Total personnel: 340 Terrain: steep, rugged PUBLIC MEETING TONIGHT: 6pm PECOS HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM As of 6:00 a.m. today, management of the Tres Lagunas Fire was turned over to the Type 2 New Mexico Incident Management Team with John Pierson as Incident Commander. An Incident Command Post is being established at the Pecos National Historical Park. Summary: The predicted calmer winds should help crews today as they continue to work on establishing an anchor point on the west perimeter of the fire. The weather should also allow airtankers and helicopters to be utilized. The fire will remain active but is expected to be more terrain driven rather than wind driven as seen in the last few days.
