Incident Management Team transfers command of Venado Fire (Venado Fire Wildfire)

General Information: On Sunday at 6:00 a.m., Steve Millert’s Type 2 Incident Management Team 4 will transition management of the Venado Fire to a local Type 3 organization, led by Incident Commander Ray Carrol. The number of personnel assigned to the fire will continue to decrease due to successful firefighting efforts. Approximately 180 personnel and equipment will be assigned to the Type 3 organization when it assumes command on Sunday. Fire Operations: Scattered showers occurred across the fire area yesterday, which helped minimize fire growth. Sufficient rains allowed firefighters to support suppression efforts in the Joaquin fuel treatment unit. Last night, the wet conditions allowed crews to ignite dead and downed fuels along an established dozer line to further limit fire intensity and help strengthen containment lines.
