Fire Preparedness Day

The Jemez Mountain Baptist Church in La Cueva is hosting the pre-fire season Fire Preparedness Day.

I encourage you to set aside a few hours to attend this workshop to be informed on the latest information about our most serious natural threat. If you haven't attended before, this is an excellent opportunity to build your foundation of learning about dealing with fire threat; if you have attended before, this is a chance to get the latest tips, current conditions and have your questions answered by the specialists.

********** Saturday April 11, 9:30am - Noon ***************

The USFS will have presenters to show us the most recent maps of their thinning and prescribed burning that help buffer the communities in our area. They will have information on current conditions and forecast projections about this year's fire season.

Plus, the plan is for USFS to demonstrate their very impressive 3D Fire Progression Simulation Sand Table.

There will be leaders of our community's fire response system to answer your questions; there will be informative brochures and documents to pick up for education on fire season preparation.

Check the Thunder for more information in the April 1st issue. The Jemez Mountain Baptist Church is located in La Cueva off NM 126, between Horseshoe Springs Road and San Antonio Campground, about 1.5 miles past the NM 4 junction.

Stay Safe.
