New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) crews are busy laying a new surface on most of the highway south of Cañon. Drivers are required to follow a pilot car for some of the way. A few drivers have reported waits today (9/1/2015) of up to 20 minutes at busy traffic times.
If you are heading out south, it is worth considering adding extra time to planned travel time while this work continues.
