NM Wildfire Updates, 7.12.16., 9:55 AM

Black Fire: This lightning-caused fire in the Gila National Forest has burned 120 acres of federal land. Command of the fire transitioned to a Type III team this morning. Five structures are considered threatened and structure protection remains in place. Hotshot crews progressed with suppression efforts through last night. A reconnaissance flight will be conducted later this morning for detailed assessment. Resources include air attack and heavy air tankers. Approximately 125 personnel are on site.

Clavel Fire: This fire near Roy in Harding County has reportedly burned 5,696 acres of private land. There is some fire activity within the site’s interior, but established lines are holding along the perimeter. The fire is 75% contained. Multiple resources are continuing fire suppression.

Black Range Complex (Cooney and Kline Fires): The two ongoing fires of which the complex is comprised have burned an estimated total of 245 acres within the Gila National Forest. Multiple resources are engaged in management activities. This complex fire is being federally managed for multiple resource benefits.

Eggert Fire: No updates to the size of this lightning-caused fire near mile marker 56 on Hwy. 120 have been reported. The fire remains active and multiple resources have responded. Seven personnel are actively engaged on this fire.

School Fire: This fire within the Gila National Forest has burned approximately 25 acres of federal land. It is located within the 2006 Bear Fire Burn Scar. Surrounding rounds have been designated for management parameters. Resources are engaged in fire management and suppression activities.

Shooting Range Fire: This fire near Capitan in Lincoln County was contained late last evening. It reportedly burned a total of 54 acres, of which 18 were on private land and 36 acres were on BLM land. Resources remaining this morning are conducting mop up and monitoring. Unless there is a significant change to the fire’s size or activity, this will be the final notification.

Westfall Fire: There are no reported updates to the size or activity of this fire near Arabela in Lincoln County. Resources are continuing suppression activities.
