SYSTEM 1 WATER NOTIFICATION & UPDATE

The water for the north parts of Units 1 and 3 will be shut off at approximately 10 pm Saturday and back on early around 5-6 am Sunday.

Replacement of the first section of leaking, outdated, main water lines on the south section of Hovenweep is approximately 50% complete. No work will take place tomorrow, Sunday.
Notification of exact outages has been difficult. Thanks to most of you for being patient.
Work will continue next week.

For example, the southern portion of Units 1 & 3 (Chaco, Aztec, San Juan) should have normal water pressure. Unit 2 should have normal water pressure.

It has been necessary to isolate and provide water from the small Hovenweep well ONLY (no tank storage) for the north parts of Unit 1 and 3. However there is not enough leakage in this section to allow the Hovenweep well to run unattended at night. So again, the water will be shut off at approximately 10 pm and back on early around 5-6 am tomorrow. Even when the water is on, the pressure will vary depending upon usage for the north parts of Unit 1 and 3.

The complex water connections with Mesa Verde and Bonito Way were completed yesterday. Problems encountered were other underground utilities, difficulty getting NM811 out to locate same (underground JMEC electrical primary, Windstream primary). A leaking, corroded, unusable valve was also discovered and replaced.

Other good news is that evidence of a considerable leak (large root ball around the main pipe) was discovered and of course replaced with the new pipe going in.
