The USFS opened the gate on FR106, the road to the slash pit. Having the slash pit is a great asset for having a place to dispose of tree slash as we clean up around our homes to increase defensible space. Please do not abuse the asset or we won't have it anymore.
Directions: Hwy 4 and mm 27, north on 105 for 1/10 of mile, north on 106 for 4 ½ miles to slash pit.
Remember: ONLY tree slash, pine needles are ok too
No stumps - they take too long to burn and cause hazards
No household trash, no garbage - that's illegal dumping
No construction materials, no pallets, - these can be hazardous either chemically or physically
No appliances, file cabinets, TVs, etc., which have all had to be dragged out of the pit at some time in the past before the pit contents could be burned
Push your load INTO the pit, do not deposit it on the apron. It has to be in the pit to get burned.
