Benefit Concert in Jemez Springs Today

A big all day event with a crowd estimated to number between 3000 and 4000 people will be taking over Jemez Springs this Saturday. 11 bands are expected to play music on two stages, one at the Jemez Valley Community Park (Leyba land), the other in Jemez Springs Village Park in the gazebo. The concerts, which cost $5 for adults and $2 for children, will raise money to support the Fisher House Organization, www.fisherhouse.org. who service homeless veterans and are sponsored by Homeless Veterans No Mas, an organization started by local radio personalities Dotie Brown, Larry Waisner, Don Conger and others.

There will be over 50 vendors, selling food and drinks, arts and crafts, and also a variety of additional events throughout the day.

The organization’s goal is to raise money for Fisher house, who provides housing for families that have veterans hospitalized at a Veteran’s Administration hospital. Homeless Veterans No Mas is trying to raise $25,000 to help get a “Fisher House” built near the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque.

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. with the National Anthem, followed by the State Road 4 Band, and continue with a different local band every hour until 7 p.m.
