Spring News Update

Board volunteer needed
There has been a recent resignation on the Board and we are looking for a volunteer to fill the vacancy. If you are interested in helping the community, please consider volunteering and contact the Board at board1@slppoa.org.

Annual Assessment Mailing
The annual assessment of $1,095 was mailed on December 9. If you haven’t received your invoice you can request an email invoice by calling 505-888-4479 or contacting Vernon Lovelady, vlovelady@hoamco.com.

Reminder --Remedies for Nonpayment of Assessment
Annual assessments not paid by April 1, 2023 will be subject to 1.5% per month (18% per annum) with a minimum interest charge of $5.00 per month interest retroactive from January 1, 2023. (Bylaws Section 8)
If assessments are not paid by June 1, other remedies may include disconnecting water service and filing a lien at the owner’s expense.
The Board understands the financial challenge when dues are increased and if this causes a hardship, the Board encourages those who are having financial difficulties to contact the Board and set up a payment plan.

Water and Roads Maintenance Update
Due to the overrun of the 2022 budget, water and roads maintenance will focus on the most necessary repairs during 2023. Please be prepared for interruptions of services as maintenance will be prioritized based on urgency and funds available.

NEW Email Notification Service
The Board is updating its email notification service and the member subscriber list. The Board will no longer be using the old listserver and members will be added to the new SLPPOA Board Notice email announcement service.
Please watch your email inbox notifying you that you have been added to the service and check your spam box.

About the new email service
This service includes emergency notifications such as fire alerts, water outages, road closures, and other pertinent information regarding association/Board meetings and current events.
The member list will not be shared with any persons or organizations. You can choose to unsubscribe at any time.

How to submit an email for the new service
If you have not been receiving SLP notifications in the past and would like to be added to the SLP member email distribution list, please contact the Board at email@slppoa.org to register your current email.

Winter road conditions
Despite the roads being plowed and sanded, underlying ice and the narrow passages still imperils the driving conditions on many of our roads. To avoid accidents, drivers are asked to drive slowly and respectfully.
The vehicle facing downhill must yield the right-of-way so the vehicle going uphill can pass.

Spring water leaks
Interminent freezing and thawing temperatures on water lines cause unexpected breaks and water outages. If you experience an outage, please immediately contact wateroperator1@slppoa.org or board1@slppoa.org so we can investigate the issue.

Cinders for roads
If you take cinders from the pile by the fire station please put the tarp cover back over the cinders so that they do not freeze solid.

Special assessments
Due to increasing costs to protect our roads and water infrastructure special assessments may be needed in the future to cover the expenses of our association. Over the course of time, volunteers have saved our association thousands of dollars by providing assistance with personal equipment and manual labor. Support SLPPOA.

Volunteer -- help keep our costs down.
