SLPPOA Newsletter July 2004

The intent of this newsletter is to report the official minutes of the Board meetings and other unrelated events or notices which may be of interest to our Association members.

Board meetings are normally held the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:15 PM at the SLP fire station. All property owners are welcome.

JULY 21, 2004
Meeting was convened at 7:44.

Attendees: Wendy Bissett, Donna Smith, Karen Taylor, Brian Reardon, and Ann Cooke

Donna motioned that we accept the previous minutes. Wendy seconded.

Treasury Report.

Current balance is $44,700. Three members are overdue in paying their annual assessment. Almost all of the water budget has been spend. Anne noted that the water budget will probably overrun by $8k. The issue arose as to building a pole barn for the generator. Decision made to hold off at this time.

Wendy indicated the list of members requesting hard copy of minutes to be mailed to their homes.

Insurance

Donna indicated that the new insurance through State Farm was effective 7/15/04. We expect a $2k rebate from the previous carrier.

Roads/Water

Anne mentioned that another leak was found and repaired on System 2. Anne indicated that Orlando has Pete Meskimmens performing road grading.

Architectural

Brian reported a request for building a garage, fence, and retaining wall. As all complied with covenants, Brian will send approval letter. Brian is sending a response to John Bootzin on Bootzin’s request for a variance. Two new requests were received: one for a fence on Hovenweep and another for a carport on Los Griegos. Brian will send letters to both.

Legal

David was contacted by the insurance company in reference to wall on Hovenweep. As SLPPOA has not been informed that the insurance has been obtained, we will pursue taking down the wall.

Fire Wise

Anne has updated our website to include the fire wise link. Anne is working on getting non-profit certification but we need 501c3 paperwork and need to file a 1023 with the IRS. Anne sent 12 letters to local realtors requesting $100 donations from each to assist in the start up efforts for fire wise.

Old Business

Wendy moved that Donna draft a letter to Bob Bootzin on Bob’s intention of retiring water rights. Donna seconded the motion.

Meeting adjourned at 8:38
