Santa Fe National Forest Implements Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Across Entire Forest SANTA FE, NM – June 21, 2017 – For Immediate Release. The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will implement forest-wide Stage 1 fire restrictions at 8:00 a.m. this Friday, June 23, 2017. Fire danger on the forest remains high due to continued high temperatures and dry conditions. The Jemez Ranger District, where the 1,412-acre Cajete Fire sparked last week from an abandoned campfire near Sierra de los Pinos, went into Stage 1 restrictions last Friday.

All fireworks are prohibited in the National Forests The Santa Fe National Forest reminds residents, visitors and campers to all national forests that all types of fireworks are prohibited on National Forests. The prohibition on National Forest System lands remains in place. No fireworks or pyrotechnic device of any kind may be discharged anywhere within the National Forests, regardless of weather conditions or holidays.

More Abandoned Campfires on the Santa Fe NFas the Campfire-Caused Cajete Fire Continues to Burn SANTA FE, NM – June 18, 2017 – For Immediate Release. As more than 300 people continued to battle the 1,367-acre Cajete Fire that sparked last Thursday from an abandoned campfire, the already-overloaded fire team on the Santa Fe National Forest was forced to respond to more abandoned campfires today. As of 2 p.m., at least three had been reported to the dispatch center.
