High elevation lots may experience reduced or no water pressure.

The Aspen Well is non functional at the moment. However, the small Hovenweep well has been set for full time operation.

Troubleshooting has been performed on the Aspen well system by Stanley, Corn, & Veverka.
We are experiencing a pump over current condition which may require pulling and replacing the submersible pump.

Nearing the midway point in the multi-year process of writing a new management plan for its 1.6 million acres, the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) announced a series of upcoming public meetings to help determine if there are lands that are or are not suitable for Wilderness.

Santa Fe National Forest Road Closures Announced

The Santa Fe National Forest has issued seasonal road closure orders for areas on the Cuba and Jemez Ranger Districts that are susceptible to damage under severe weather conditions. The orders are in effect until Dec. 31, 2021, unless rescinded earlier.

The closures will protect public health and safety, natural resources and infrastructure during periods of extreme soil moisture and heavy snowfall. Closures usually occur in the winter months between December and May.

Water Outages Continues Friday

Water outages will continue today on San Juan and Mimbres roads from the meadow to the south end of Hovenweep. Service will be restored by 4:30 in the afternoon on.

The reason for this outage is the replacement of old and leaking isolation valves on the main lines. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please call me at 829-3754 if you have any questions or concerns.

Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest hope to take advantage of warmer weather in May 2016 to conduct the Mesitas prescribed burn on the Española Ranger District. The 1,800-acre treatment area is located approximately six miles southwest of Abiquiu, 15 miles north of Los Alamos and 15 miles northwest of Española.

Santa Fe National Forest Offers 2016 Firewood Permits

Firewood permits for dead and down timber will be available for purchase throughout spring 2016 at Santa Fe National Forest Headquarters and Ranger District offices. Each district has a different start date for sales. Check the list below or contact your local Ranger District office for availability.

Good morning folks,

We have been getting some inquiries regarding slash pit. First of all, "thank you" to all of you that have been Spring cleaning your property in preparation for the upcoming fire season.

If you want to hire Howard Fegan (575) 829-3031 to chip your slash, be aware that he will be getting the county chipper in mid-to-late-May. His rate is $35.00 per 3' X 3' pile.

The Thompson Ridge slash pit will open in early May, and I will pass on that information from Forest Service as soon as I get it.

Please, everyone, no slash is to be dumped at the firebarn. The pit has been closed for several years. What you currently see at the firebarn is not authorized.

Just a reminder that the Fire Preparedness presentation is this Saturday, April 9th in La Cueva, 9am - noon, at the Jemez Mountain Baptist Church. You can hear from your local Emergency Response Agencies and other experts, and pick up informative brochures and other tips.
