ATV Safety in SLP!

Please drive your ATVs at a slow speed on SLP roads! I suspect we have all seen dangerously high speed ATVers on our roads. It is important to get this across to our teenagers as they are the most likely culprits. It is particularly important for our kids to wear helmets when they are cruising in the area!

The ATV Safety Institute's Golden Rules:

Always wear a DOT-compliant helmet, goggles, long sleeves, long pants, over-the-ankle boots, and gloves.

Never ride on paved roads except to cross when done safely and permitted by law - another vehicle could hit you.

SLPPOA Board Member Election Results

Peter Veverka and Jack Nyhan were re-elected to serve another three years on the Board of Directors. We appreciate their hard work and dedication to the community. We would also like to welcome Scott Bushnell to the Board of Directors. Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from serving on other boards. Terry Vergamini will serve as an alternate in the event of an unexpected vacancy.

We also want to thank all of you who took the time and interest in voting. Your active involvement in the community is important to everyone.

Second Sunday Neighbor Appreciation Day

SLPPOA Board Candidate Information and Election Ballot

Peter Veverka

I have been on the board now for several years. During this time I have been responsible for maintenance of the water system. I feel we have accomplished quite a bit in the last few years. There are still improvements to make. We hope to complete a leak test of both systems 1 and 2 this year. Hopefully this will help to identify any large leaks so that we can fix them and I leave the board with the water system improved for whoever takes my place.

Expect Delays on NM Highway 4 Tomorrow and Possibly Longer?

New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) crews are busy laying a new surface on most of the highway south of Cañon. Drivers are required to follow a pilot car for some of the way. A few drivers have reported waits today (9/1/2015) of up to 20 minutes at busy traffic times.

If you are heading out south, it is worth considering adding extra time to planned travel time while this work continues.
