Prescribed Burns Planned on Santa Fe National Forest

Fire managers at Santa Fe National Forest are planning to continue prescribed pile burns on the Jemez Ranger District. The Las Conchas Meadow, Thompson Ridge and Fenton Hill prescribed pile burns may be conducted October 28 through November 21, 2014, only on favorable days as conditions allow.

Los Griegos Prescribed Pile Burn Started Today, May Continue Until Next Week

The Los Griegos prescribed pile burn started today at about 10 a.m. and may continue through October 31, only on favorable days as conditions allow. A total of 300 acres of piles may be treated in an area adjacent to the Sierra Los Pinos community, 17 miles southwest of Los Alamos. Small blocks may be treated each day to decrease the daily smoke volume.

Power Outage

Have just been informed by the Jemez Electric Co-Op, that there will be a scheduled outage on October 22nd, 9am-3:30pm in our neighborhood.

Fall Prescribed Burn Planned On 818 Acres Of Valles Caldera National Preserve

The Valles Caldera Trust is planning to implement a prescribed burn project that may begin as early as Tuesday, Oct. 14 and last for two to four days.

Weekly Weather Briefing

Paliza Prescribed Burn Cancelled

September 26, 2014, Santa Fe, NM – Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest’s Jemez Ranger District met this morning in conference with New Mexico Environment Department Air Quality Bureau, Jemez Pueblo Liaisons, and other agencies. Changing weather conditions are not predicted to be favorable for prescribed burning in the next few days. This prompted the decision to cancel implementation of the 6200-acre Paliza prescribed burn that was scheduled to begin this weekend.

Community Meeting to Discuss the Paliza Prescribed Burn

Tuesday September-23 7:00pm to 8:00pm

A community meeting will be held Tuesday, September 23, at 7 p.m. at the Ponderosa Community Center to discuss the Paliza prescribed fire and answer questions about planned operations. The public is invited to attend.
