September SLPPOA Board Meeting Cancelled

Following on the heals of the SLPPOA Annual Meeting, the September monthly Board Meeting is being cancelled. The regularly scheduled October meeting will be held next month.

The annual meeting of the Sierra los Pinos Property Owners’ Association (SLPPOA) will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. There will be a potluck lunch beginning at 1:00 p.m. Please bring your favorite dish to share and a comfortable chair. We will provide the drinks and table service.

Thinning Assistance Meeting

Friday September-09 10:00am to 12:00pm

This program within the USDA, called EQIP, can help provide financial and technical assistance for Fire Mitigation, Forest Health, Erosion Control and improve Wildlife Habitat and Water Quality and Availability. It is administered out of the NRCS office of the USDA in Cuba, New Mexico, and the New Mexico State Forestry office in Bernalillo.

Santa Fe National Forest Plans Beneficial Prescribed Burns for Remainder of 2016

SANTA FE, NM – Sept. 1, 2016 – For Immediate Release. Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest are planning to conduct multiple prescribed burns across the forest between now and the end of the year. Any decision to burn will be dependent on favorable conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather forecasts.

Here is a list of planned burns:

Coyote Ranger District
· Mesa Potrero – 470 acres on Mesa Alta 7 miles northwest of Coyote
· French Mesa – 5,041 acres located 10 miles south of Gallina

Wednesday Water Outage

We will be testing the water mains in system one on Wednesday 31. This will require that all of the home services in System One will need to be shut for a part of the day. This will begin between 0730 and 0800. The last time we did this all services were returned by 2:30 Pm. Sorry for the inconvenience but we need to see what progress we have made so far in order to continue appropriately.

We are all no doubt aware that recently it has been raining here and there now and then. The mini(so far)-monsoon has changed the picture in our area to where the controlled burns in the National Forest have flickered, given that last hiss and gone cold, but we can now compensate for the absence of smoke in the valley from the deliberate, managed burning of forests by having our own authorized and hopefully controlled conflagrations.
