Updated 1400 MDT June 25, 2013 Valid through Wednesday, June 26, 2013 Smoke Outlook Smoke from the Silver and Jaroso fires will be transported towards the east during the day today. The wind is then expected to decrease significantly later today making smoke much more likely to settle into drainages below active fires tonight and tomorrow morning. Lighter winds are then expected Wednesday and Thursday, with smoke impacts likely near active fires. Smoke impacts from the Silver fire are expected in the Mimbres Valley and the communities of Hillsboro and Kingston.

Updated 1400 MDT June 24, 2013 Valid through Tuesday, June 25, 2013 Smoke Outlook- There are several wildfires across the region in Arizona, northern Mexico, and the Silver and Jaroso fires in New Mexico, which will create hazy conditions in New Mexico the next couple of days; however public health impacts are not predicted, except in areas close to active fires in the morning. The wind will push the smoke from all of these fires towards the northeast shifting east this afternoon and tomorrow.

Description of Burn Severity Classification (Tres Lagunas Post-Fire Response Burned Area Emergency Response)

Description of Burn Severity Rankings LOW: The majority of the delineated area has not been significantly altered by the fire. Significant amount of organic layers remain intact or singed leaf litter and duff remain, ash is sparse, small unburned fuels remain, canopy is largely intact, and grass and shrub root crowns are intact. Areas where pre-fire vegetation was sparse, and/or bare soil and rock fragments dominate should be classified as Low severity since there was little fuel to burn to begin with.
