It is burning in mixed- conifer, heavy dead and down, woody material with pockets of bug-killed trees, and has burned through the 1300-acres of blowdown from 2007.

Updated 1400 MDT June 29, 2013 Valid through Sunday, June 30, 2013 Smoke Outlook Potentially significant smoke impacts from the Silver fire are expected in the Mimbres Valley and the communities of Hillsboro and Kingston tomorrow morning. In addition, potentially significant smoke impacts from the West Fork Complex Fire, in southwestern Colorado, are expected in Farmington and nearby communities tomorrow morning. Potentially unhealthy conditions (visibility of 1.5 to 2.75 miles or less) could occur.

Updated 1400 MDT June 28, 2013 Valid through Saturday, June 29, 2013 Smoke Outlook Potentially significant smoke impacts from the Silver fire are expected in the Mimbres Valley and the communities of Hillsboro and Kingston tomorrow morning. Potentially unhealthy conditions (visibility of 1.5 to 2.75 miles or less) could occur. If they do, sensitive groups such as people with heart and/or lung disease, adults over age 65, young children, and pregnant women should avoid all outdoor activities until air quality improves. Everyone else should minimize outdoor activities.

Thompson Ridge BAER Assessment Update -- June 27, 2013 (Thompson Ridge Post-Fire Response Burned Area Emergency Response)

BAER Assessment Update – June 27, 2013 JEMEZ SPRINGS, NM (June 27, 2013) – Thompson Ridge BAER specialists recently completed their field surveys and are finalizing their analysis and findings. The hydrologists and soils scientists finished their modeling for predicted post-fire water run-off and erosion levels. The BAER team identified critical values-at-risk and is finalizing their recommended emergency stabilization actions and treatments for these values that will be included in their BAER assessment report along with their data, analysis, and findings.
